Wine Country – Most Desirable Tourist Attractions
Be it Sonoma, Napa, St. Helena, or Mendocino there’s plenty to see in Northern California Wine Country!
Aside from wine tasting at some of the worlds favorite Vineyards there’s many more activities worthy of your attention.
Whether a casual tourist or an aspiring connoisseur, the great selection of activities, restaurants, historical sights, and bucolic surroundings beckons your attention.
With so many options a little pointing in the right direction is called for.
Second to touring the vineyards in person, there’s no better way to take in the beauty of the area then from above. Spotting the skyline since the very beginning of it all – hot air balloons! It can be said one hasn’t experienced the region until up above it, where the regions climate and geography responsible for such exquisite wines can be experienced. If this interests you we recommend checking out Napa Valley Aloft!
One would be right in the assumption if a region produces the best wine in the world, they have food to match. Second only to New York, the Bay Area Wine country is home to the most consolidated, and some of the best Michelin Star restaurants in the country!
Wine Country can be a foodie’s haven, if for no other reason that the Napa Valley and Sonoma County is home to many fine dining spots of the world’s envy. From the heavyweight champions like The Restaurant in Meadowood and The French Laundry, to newcomers like Single Thread and Kenzo, there’s plenty of top-notch food to make a fantastic time in Wine Country. If you love food, a reservation at one of these places could be the experience of a lifetime.
The world, and especially the Wine Country owes a lot to Jack London, who’s single vineyard wines are some of the most cherished in the area. Grown to this day at Jack Londons old estate, located upon prime red-lava rich ground that produces renowned dark color and rich varietal flavors, one can find some of the most sought after wine the area has to offer. Many of the vines planted by Jack London and prior are still producing top tier wines to this day. The Jack London State Historic Park located in Glen Ellen has terrific hiking with some of the most gorgeous views in Wine Country. It should be on the bucket list for all wine lovers!
Located in Calistoga with perhaps the most amazing view of Napa Valley, this article wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Castello di Amorosa. A truly magnificent 13th century style castle perched upon a hill in the heart of Napa Valley, it’s hard to miss and one of the top destinations for the Wine visiting tourist. Specializing in Italian style Wines of superb quality, it should be high on the to-do list for the visiting connoisseur and sightseer.
Lastly but certainly not least, the Sonoma Plaza is the largest town square, and arguably the most beautiful in the U.S. The Plaza is home to the most concentrated historical landmarks in the region, retaining many structures around the Plaza that date back to the area’s earliest days. Additionally, plenty of shops, a wonderful farmers market Tuesday evenings, and open containers allowed during the day, make for one of the top tourist destinations.
